Privacy Policy for GolfStroke Shot Log

Thank you for using GolfStroke Shot Log. This policy explains, in plain English, what the app collects, what it does not, and who it shares data with. It is written to match exactly what we declared on the app's App Store privacy page.

1. The short version

• The golf data you type in stays on your phone. Your rounds, clubs, shot ratings, pars, course names and settings are never uploaded to us.
• The app does show ads, and the ad and attribution SDKs collect data. That part is described in full below.
• We do not ask you to create an account, and we never ask for your name, email address or phone number.

2. Your round data stays on your device

Everything you record in the app — the clubs and shot-quality ratings, hole pars, the course name and date, your club list and app settings — is written to your device's local storage as you go, so a round survives switching apps or restarting the phone.

This round data:

• never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us or to any third party;
• is not part of any of the data categories listed in section 4 — those describe what the advertising and attribution SDKs collect, not your golf data;
• is deleted when you delete the app.

You can clear the current round yourself with Settings → Start a new round (clear), and you can take a copy out with Export JSON on the same screen. The coaching summary is assembled on the phone and copied to your clipboard; where you paste it is entirely your choice, and the app itself sends none of it anywhere.

3. Third-party SDKs we do integrate

The app is supported by advertising. To show ads and to measure where installs come from, it includes two third-party SDKs, and data described in section 4 is shared with them:

• AppLovin MAX — advertising mediation. It selects and serves the ads you see, and passes data on to the advertising networks it mediates for. AppLovin privacy policy

4. What is collected

These are the same categories, with the same tracking status, that we declared to Apple.

4a. Collected, linked to you, and used to track you

"Used to track you" means the data may be linked with data from other companies' apps and websites for advertising or measurement purposes.

• Device ID — advertising identifier and similar device identifiers. Used for analytics, app functionality, our own advertising, and third-party advertising.
• Advertising Data — which ads were shown, viewed or interacted with. Used for analytics, app functionality, our own advertising, and third-party advertising.
• Coarse Location — an approximate region derived from your IP address. The app never requests precise GPS location and never asks for location permission. Used for analytics, app functionality, our own advertising, and third-party advertising.
• Product Interaction — app launches and in-app events such as reaching a level or an amount of time in the app. Used for analytics, app functionality, our own advertising, and third-party advertising.
• Performance Data — technical measurements such as launch and load behaviour. Used for analytics, app functionality, our own advertising, and third-party advertising.
• User ID — an identifier generated by the attribution SDK for your installation. Used for analytics, app functionality, and third-party advertising.
• Other Data — other technical values sent by the SDKs above, such as device model, operating system version and network type. Used for analytics, app functionality, our own advertising, and third-party advertising.

4b. Collected, but not used to track you

• Crash Data — linked to your installation. Used for analytics, app functionality, and third-party advertising.
• Other Diagnostic Data — not linked to your identity. Used for analytics, app functionality, our own advertising, and third-party advertising.
• Other Usage Data — not linked to your identity. Used for analytics and third-party advertising.
• Customer Support — not linked to your identity; this is simply whatever you choose to write to us by email. Used only to answer you.

5. Tracking permission (ATT)

The first time you open the app, iOS shows a dialog asking whether GolfStroke Shot Log may track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.

• If you allow it, the advertising identifier (IDFA) is available to the SDKs in section 3, and the data in section 4a may be used for cross-app advertising and measurement.
• If you decline, the advertising identifier is not available. The app keeps working exactly the same and still shows ads, but those ads are less personalised.

You can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your device.

6. Children

GolfStroke Shot Log is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

7. Data security and retention

Your round data is held on your device and protected by the standard security of iOS. Data collected by the SDKs in section 3 is held by those companies under their own privacy policies, linked above.

8. Your choices

• Decline or withdraw tracking permission at any time (section 5).
• Clear your round data in the app, or delete the app to remove all of it from your device.
• Write to us at the address below with any question about your data, and we will answer.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app changes or when the law requires it. The date at the top of this page always shows when it was last revised.
